Data Engineering Manager

Location: Galway, Ireland; hybrid working is the default in Ireland, with core hours from 10am to 4pm and remote options depending on the role.

What you will do

• Lead and motivate a team of data engineers and scientists delivering data solutions for business needs.
• Support team formation, coaching, mentoring, career development, and the recruitment of new team members.
• Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data infrastructure, pipelines, architectures, and platforms.
• Manage software delivery processes, team ceremonies, and the backlog.
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Contribute to the codebase when needed and stay current with data technologies and trends.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a technical leader with a strong background in data engineering.
• Extensive experience working with teams designing, developing, and implementing data pipelines, architectures, and platforms.
• Deep understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data quality principles.
• Expertise in cloud-based data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Java.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
