Data Engineering Lead (Databricks)

What you will do

• Lead Data Engineering projects and ensure high-quality technical delivery aligned with customer requirements.
• Guide, mentor, and support Data Engineering teams while establishing engineering standards, best practices, and quality processes.
• Design, develop, and optimize scalable cloud-based data platforms, data architectures, ETL/ELT pipelines, integrations, and data processing workflows, primarily using Databricks.
• Establish DataOps practices covering orchestration, automation, CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, incident resolution, security, governance, and data quality.
• Work directly with enterprise customers to translate business and operational requirements into sustainable technical solutions, leading workshops, architecture discussions, and solution design sessions.
• Support presales and business development through technical proposals, effort estimates, RFP and tender responses, customer presentations, and development of Data Engineering and Data Operations offerings.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or related disciplines.
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, and Delta Lake, plus advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Strong understanding of modern Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and Lakehouse architectures, including ETL/ELT pipelines and complex data integration solutions.
• Strong experience with cloud-based data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, preferably combined with Databricks.
• Knowledge of data orchestration, workflow automation, CI/CD, performance optimization, data quality, monitoring, troubleshooting, data governance, access management, and security principles.
• Familiarity with production-grade data platform operations and DataOps methodologies.
• Experience in a technical leadership role such as Lead Data Engineer, Technical Lead, or Data Architect, as well as experience in IT consulting, systems integration, or professional technology services.
• Ability to apply AI-powered tools and automation to improve Data Engineering efficiency, delivery quality, troubleshooting, testing, documentation, and team productivity; experience with tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, presentation, consulting, stakeholder-management, and cross-functional coordination skills; ability to work independently with international teams.
• Experience translating business requirements into technical architectures and implementation plans, preparing technical proposals, estimates, solution documentation, and managing enterprise customer stakeholders.
• Strong ownership mindset, proactive attitude, and commitment to delivery excellence.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
