Data Analyst (Fintech)

Location: Melbourne, Australia; hybrid work site.

What you will do

• Extract, clean, and analyze data from multiple sources using SQL to answer defined business questions.
• Develop data pipelines and data transformation engines using SQL and Python.
• Respond to ad-hoc data requests from stakeholders across the business.
• Build and maintain operational dashboards and reports using BI tools.
• Support senior analysts with more complex analytical dashboards.
• Validate and test data, and document data sources, metrics, transformation logic, and report logic.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative or technical field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or in a similar analytical role.
• Strong proficiency in SQL for querying and extracting data.
• Hands-on experience analyzing large datasets with SQL and Python.
• Experience with a data visualization or BI tool such as Tableau or Power BI, including DAX.
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex analysis through writing, visuals, and presentations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with different stakeholders.
• Experience with modern data and analytics platforms, including Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure data services, or equivalent cloud-based analytics environments.
