Display Platform Scientist

hirify.global is building an automated laboratory that enables AI agents to design and run biology experiments, combining software, hardware, automation, data pipelines, and AI systems for biotech and biopharma research.

What you will do

• Build high-diversity libraries using oligo pools, combinatorial assembly, and barcoding.
• Run display-based selections end to end and determine whether enrichment reflects real binders or fast-growing artifacts.
• Select and establish the appropriate platform for each campaign, including phage, ribosome, mRNA, yeast, or cell-free display.
• Analyze sequencing data independently using NGS and sufficient Python or R.
• Transfer robust protocols to the automation team so they can be run without manual intervention.
• Close the experimental loop through expression and BLI or SPR measurements performed with the adjacent team.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in molecular biology, protein engineering, or a relevant field, plus 3+ years of hands-on experience running display and selection.
• Experience setting up a display platform rather than only using one, including building the library, establishing selection, and producing binders validated in an independent assay. Managing outsourced CRO campaigns does not meet this requirement.
• Depth in at least one display format and working literacy across other display formats.
• Experience with high-diversity cloning and understanding of where bias enters a pool and its downstream effects.
• Routine use of NGS and experience with FACS if applicable.
• Enough Python or R to analyze personal experimental data independently.
• Serious use of AI tools, including the judgment to verify their output.
• Ability to prioritize work independently, decide what to build, execute it, and communicate findings.
• Ability to work at startup speed against customer deadlines and a preference for protocols that can be automated rather than kept manual.
