Software Engineer, New Grad - Query Engines

Location: New York, NY, United States; hybrid workplace.

Salary: $145,000–$155,000/year, excluding potential sign-on bonus, benefits, restricted stock units, and other incentives.

What you will do

• Build and extend data-processing infrastructure supporting hirify.global Foundry applications and workloads.
• Work on query planning, optimization, execution operators, data access, and efficient reading and writing.
• Develop planning rules, add capabilities to native execution engines, and improve the performance of large-table scans.
• Deliver changes through design, code review, testing, and release.
• Maintain correctness, compatibility, and predictable performance across production systems.
• Work across languages, services, and stack layers while learning open-source data technologies.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in at least one language such as Java, Rust, Scala, C++, or C.
• Strong foundations in algorithms, data structures, and concurrency.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Coursework or projects in databases, compilers, operating systems, or distributed systems.
• Contributions to open-source projects.
• Curiosity about query optimizers, execution operators, file formats, and distributed processing.
• A high bar for correctness, willingness to investigate system behavior thoroughly, and a practical, measurement-based approach to performance.
