Senior Java Software Engineer

Location: On-site in Cairo, Egypt; Belgrade, Serbia; Amman, Jordan; or Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Up to 10 weeks per year may be worked from anywhere in the world.

What you will do

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance scalable communication products and existing technology.
• Build and support cloud-based solutions and deployments across AWS and multi-cloud environments.
• Contribute to cloud infrastructure policies, procedures, technical assets, and technical direction.
• Perform data analysis, report platform metrics, administer databases, and optimize queries and indexes.
• Collaborate with service delivery teams, product owners, scrum masters, developers, and partner software teams.
• Support bug fixes and the next-generation evolution of the products within agile scrum teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience developing complex projects using Java and the Spring Framework, preferably in the communications domain.
• Hands-on web development experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Practical experience with queuing systems and message brokers such as ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Beanstalk, or SQS.
• Practical experience with cache technologies such as Memcached and Redis, plus experience coding in Python.
• Solid experience managing Linux servers and applications, including Nginx and Apache2, and proficiency in a Linux environment.
• Experience consuming and designing RESTful APIs, working across the full software development lifecycle, and using distributed architectures including REST, SOAP, and queue-based architectures.
• Experience with microservices architecture, AWS, SaaS and PaaS integration architecture, and applications.
• Basic knowledge of telecommunications technologies such as SMSC, VoIP, and SMPP.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Software, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience; familiarity with Agile, Maven, Git, and similar software project management tools.
• Excellent communication skills and strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
