Senior Spacecraft GNC Engineer II

Location: Littleton, Colorado, United States; based at hirify.global’s site. Coordination with teams in Long Beach, California and New Zealand.

Base salary: $140,000–$210,000 USD per year. Total compensation, including equity: $212,000–$254,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Lead GNC and ADCS development across spacecraft concept and algorithm development, flight software implementation, subsystem requirements, detailed design, integration, and testing.
• Mentor a team responsible for GNC design, modeling, and analysis across LEO, MEO, GEO, lunar, interplanetary, reentry, and RPOD missions.
• Design flight software, algorithms, simulation products, and spacecraft autonomy tools for constellation management.
• Select GNC components, design GNC subsystems, define fault detection and response, and develop and execute test processes.
• Develop hardware-in-the-loop and Monte Carlo simulations and integrate flight and simulation software with analysis, test, and operations tools.
• Support internal and external design reviews, maintain schedules and milestones, report technical status, and work with Systems, Avionics, Flight Software, Mission Operations, Ground Software, customers, department leads, and program managers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of industry experience in GNC/ADCS.
• Ability to maintain and obtain a security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
• Prior experience directly interfacing with aerospace customers in commercial or government sectors.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD.
• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• 2+ years of RPOD design and operations experience.
• Experience with Jira planning and workflow.
• Experience mentoring younger engineers and leading teams across a project lifecycle.
• Hands-on experience with IMUs, reaction wheels, star trackers, gyroscopes, and other GNC hardware.
• Experience developing blended attitude solutions from varied sensor data.
• Experience developing, implementing, and verifying flight software.
• Experience with spacecraft on-orbit operations and anomaly resolution.
• Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously and determining team priorities.
• Experience with GNC-related business development or conceptual design work.
