VP, Security (AI)

Location: Anywhere in the United States; applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Salary: $279,200–$342,000 annual pay range, with possible additional stock options, bonuses, merit increases, or sales commissions depending on the role.

What you will do

• Define and own the security strategy, multi-year roadmap, operating model, budget, and investment priorities.
• Lead a multidisciplinary organization across product security, corporate security, and information security, using automation and agentic workflows for assessments, triage, investigations, and compliance evidence.
• Build the leadership bench through hiring, coaching, succession planning, and career development.
• Own enterprise, third-party, vendor, and data security risks, risk acceptance, compliance and assurance programs, data governance, access controls, data loss prevention, and data residency.
• Lead serious incident response, disaster recovery exercises, regulatory notifications, and post-incident communications.
• Establish AI governance and partner with Product, Engineering, IT, Legal, Privacy, Finance, Sales, and Customer Success on secure-by-default design, customer commitments, strategic reviews, M&A due diligence, and executive and Board communications.

Requirements

• 12+ years of security experience, including 5+ years leading a multidisciplinary security organization.
• Experience as a Head of Security, CISO, Vice President of Security, or comparable senior security leader.
• Experience owning an end-to-end security program and scaling a security organization through significant growth at a B2B SaaS or consumer technology company, ideally with exposure to both, including strategy, budget, and headcount planning.
• Experience across security operations, cloud security, product security, identity and access management, risk, compliance, and incident response.
• Experience leading serious security incidents with Legal, communications, executives, customers, and regulators.
• Experience working with external auditors and leading programs such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
• Experience presenting security posture, material risks, investment needs, and trade-offs to executive leadership and a Board.
• Experience securing AWS and Kubernetes environments and working with Okta, OpenID Connect, or SAML.
• Experience with AI security, AI governance, responsible AI, or securing AI-enabled products.

Nice to have

• Experience with ISO 42001, ISO 27701, GDPR, the EU AI Act, HR technology, or products handling sensitive personal data.
• Unique transferable skills or perspectives that do not align fully with every listed qualification.
