Software Development Engineer (AWS/Big Data)

Company

hirify.global builds and operates software supporting a global transportation network for moving customer packages.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end delivery of features and medium-sized projects, from design through release.
• Build customer-facing applications and APIs using AWS services including Lambda, ECS Fargate, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB, and EMR.
• Build Spark and Scala data pipelines processing terabytes of data per day.
• Work with customers to understand business context, and contribute to design and code reviews.
• Support products through a regular on-call rotation and drive reliability and process improvements.
• Mentor SDE-I engineers and participate in hackathons.

Requirements

• Professional, non-internship experience in software development.
• Experience building complex software systems successfully delivered to customers.
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design, or development experience within the last three years.
• Experience with distributed, multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
• Experience across the full secure software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Experience managing and troubleshooting networks, or troubleshooting and debugging technical systems, together with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Experience with AWS technologies.
• Experience with big data processing technologies such as Hadoop or Apache Spark, data warehouse architecture, infrastructure components, ETL, and reporting or analytics tools and environments.
• Experience with the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
