Senior Accountant (GL Closing & Financial Reporting)

Location: Budapest, Hungary; hybrid

Salary: HUF 9,120,000–13,680,000 annually

What you will do

• Deliver general ledger monthly closing and reporting services, including reviewing automatic posting interfaces, closing AR and AP sub-ledgers, and closing balance sheet and P&L accounts.
• Collect recurring and non-recurring items, reconcile accounts, and post manual journal entries.
• Prepare management, tax, legal, and statutory reporting at group and country levels and contribute to business reviews.
• Execute transactions and reports in line with accounting policies, internal controls, audit, and SOX requirements.
• Build, document, and transfer Account-to-Report Core Model knowledge for GL monthly closing and reporting while developing local entity expertise.
• Identify redundant activities, support process automation, and contribute to continuous improvement and transition initiatives.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in general ledger accounting, financial closing, and reporting, ideally in a multinational or shared services environment.
• Hands-on experience with month-end closing, account reconciliations, and manual journal entries.
• Experience with management, statutory, and/or tax reporting.
• Working knowledge of internal control frameworks and SOX or audit requirements.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and/or local GAAP and statutory reporting.
• Solid understanding of the Account-to-Report process, including AR/AP sub-ledger closing.
• Proficiency in ERP systems, preferably SAP, and advanced Excel skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Excellent written and verbal English.

Nice to have

• Process automation or Power BI knowledge.
• Chartered accountant or equivalent professional accounting qualification, such as ACCA, CIMA, or CPA.
• Additional European language skills.
