Global Travel Senior Specialist

Location: Lisbon, Portugal. Regular work from a BCG office or in person with clients is generally expected for around 50% of working time, depending on business needs and local policies.

What you will do

• Analyze airline budgets for internal BCG programs, including Practice Area and WWOM programs, and run airfare projections and scenario analyses using Global Travel Amadeus and other GDS platforms.
• Apply airline pricing, inventory steering, combinability, distribution-channel, and network-planning expertise to develop realistic and cost-efficient travel budgets.
• Load, maintain, and quality-check negotiated air, rail, and car rental contracts, fares, rates, and commercial content in GDS, online booking environments, and centralized dashboards.
• Work with the Senior Sourcing Manager, TMC, budget owners, meeting organizers, global stakeholders, and vendors to resolve availability gaps and secure compliant rates.
• Support destination selection, airline network planning, fare optimization, TMC agent readiness, and the integration of safety and security parameters into planning platforms.
• Contribute to travel-team projects, analyses, reporting, process improvement, tools, and ad-hoc initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience within the travel industry.
• 3–5 years of directly related travel-industry experience, preferably in a TMC or airline environment.
• Hands-on expertise in GDS platforms, with Amadeus required.
• Solid understanding of airline and hotel pricing principles, inventory steering, and distribution channels.
• Advanced analytical skills, including multi-level data analysis and BI reporting; ability to interpret data and translate insights into practical recommendations.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with advanced PowerPoint skills.
• Experience maintaining spreadsheets, databases, dashboards, and complex datasets.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills for explaining budgets, constraints, and alternatives to diverse stakeholders and working with internal teams, sourcing managers, TMC partners, and external vendors.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, manage multiple projects under tight timelines, exercise sound judgment, learn new tools quickly, and work in a fast-paced, intellectually intense, global, matrixed environment.
• Fluency in English is required; a genuine interest in expanding knowledge of travel processes and technologies is expected.

• Experience with Sabre or Apollo.
• Experience with network-optimization tools such as Convien.
• Additional language skills.
