Director, Stablecoin & Digital Assets Risk Intelligence, AI Strategy and Governance

Location: US - Foster City, CA; office setting. Travel required 5–10% of the time. Work hours vary according to department needs.

Salary: $179,000–$287,000 USD per year, with potential bonus, equity, and sales incentive payments where applicable.

What you will do

• Own the vision, strategy, architecture, governance, and execution of stablecoin, digital asset, and AI-enabled risk intelligence capabilities.
• Establish enterprise risk appetite, approval standards, monitoring requirements, and governance frameworks for stablecoin issuers, digital asset counterparties, crypto infrastructure providers, custodians, exchanges, and blockchain ecosystems.
• Develop methodologies for exposure, concentration, liquidity, collateral, reserve, stress-testing, scenario-modeling, and portfolio-monitoring activities.
• Lead surveillance and intelligence across stablecoins, digital assets, blockchain networks, and crypto markets, translating financial, regulatory, cyber, operational, and on-chain signals into executive reporting and recommendations.
• Design and deploy AI-enabled risk detection, monitoring, reporting, decision-support, workflow-automation, and operational-efficiency capabilities using LLMs, generative AI, predictive analytics, machine learning, and intelligent automation.
• Lead a team of three and partner with Treasury, Product, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Data Science, Crypto, AI Engineering, and CSR functions.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional experience with a Bachelor's degree, 8+ years with an advanced degree, or 3+ years with a PhD.
• Advanced and demonstrable expertise in stablecoins, digital assets, blockchain infrastructure, and crypto-economic ecosystems.
• Deep understanding of stablecoin economics and reserve management, digital asset market infrastructure, wallet, custody and settlement architectures, on-ramp and off-ramp ecosystems, blockchain protocols, distributed ledger technologies, and global digital asset regulation.
• Understanding of counterparty, liquidity, treasury, operational, and systemic risk within digital asset ecosystems.
• Experience developing and executing enterprise digital asset risk strategies, governance frameworks, approval processes, and monitoring programs.
• Expertise in credit risk, financial analysis, quantitative methods, portfolio risk management, stress testing, scenario analysis, executive communication, and senior stakeholder engagement.
• Extensive hands-on experience architecting, designing, deploying, governing, and scaling enterprise AI solutions, including generative AI, LLMs, machine learning platforms, AI orchestration frameworks, intelligent workflow automation, and AI-enabled decision-support systems.
• Experience establishing AI governance frameworks covering model risk management, explainability, transparency, human oversight, ethical AI, validation, monitoring, and responsible AI practices.
• Practical experience using and enabling Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, enterprise LLM ecosystems, and emerging AI technologies, plus experience designing AI-powered operating models, workflow automation, and enterprise support frameworks.
• Experience establishing governance frameworks, approval standards, control environments, and incident response processes in highly regulated or risk-sensitive environments, with the ability to translate complex technical, regulatory, financial, blockchain, and AI issues into executive recommendations.

• Executive-level experience leading enterprise-wide digital asset, stablecoin, AI, risk, compliance, or governance programs.
• Experience building AI Centers of Excellence, AI governance programs, enterprise AI operating models, or large-scale AI transformation initiatives.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams in complex financial services, digital asset, blockchain, and AI environments.
• Understanding of AI architecture, enterprise integration patterns, agent-based AI systems, RAG, knowledge management, and workflow orchestration technologies.
• Experience building AI-assisted risk management, monitoring, investigation, compliance, fraud detection, or intelligence platforms.
• Ability to independently drive strategic initiatives, exercise sound judgment, influence executives, and deliver measurable business outcomes.
• Strong people leadership skills, including coaching and developing analysts, data scientists, risk professionals, and AI practitioners.
