Senior Build Reliability Engineer (Structures)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite. Travel up to 5% may be required, along with support for mission-critical events outside normal working hours.

Salary: $86,000–$159,000 USD annually, calibrated to the selected candidate's experience and demonstrated capability.

What you will do

• Own build reliability for piece-part fabrication and structural sub-assemblies, including manufacturability, build readiness, and flight readiness.
• Support the introduction of new products into production by validating requirements, measurement systems, processes, tooling, equipment, work instructions, and training.
• Improve manufacturing and verification processes through stronger process controls, measurement methods, data collection, tooling, work instructions, and training.
• Analyze build data, lead quality reviews, identify recurring risks, and implement data-driven recommendations with partner teams.
• Lead containment, root-cause investigations, recovery plans, and corrective-action verification for high-impact issues.
• Drive cost-of-quality reductions by simplifying requirements, optimizing inspection, improving design standards, and preventing non-conformances at the source.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing, design, quality, reliability, or a related field; internship experience qualifies.
• Fluency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and collaborative skills for fast-paced environments.
• Ability to support mission-critical events outside normal working hours and travel up to 5%.
• Access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status or eligibility for deemed export licensing, including U.S. citizenship, U.S. nationality, lawful permanent residence, or qualifying asylee or refugee status.

Nice to have

• Experience with machining, deburring, coating, precision cleaning, drilling, fastening, welding, or other assembly processes.
• Experience with complex mechanical or structural assemblies, additive manufacturing, CMMs, or laser measurement systems.
• Experience using data analysis tools or basic statistical methods for problem-solving.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality systems.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments.
