Mechanical Engineer II (Robotics)

Location: Hybrid, based in Fremont, California, with on-site work at least two days per week. The role includes 25% travel to Salem; all roles are U.S.-based, and applicants must have current authorization to work in the United States.

Salary: $108,000–$140,000 USD base salary annually.

What you will do

• Own 3D and 2D design, prototyping, and design-for-X activities for electromechanical components and subassemblies.
• Define requirements and develop design concepts with electrical, industrial design, software, test, and manufacturing teams.
• Perform structural, static, dynamic, tolerance-stack, FEA, and thermal analyses to validate designs.
• Present designs in cross-functional reviews and create comprehensive engineering documentation.
• Investigate root causes and implement improvements that increase Digit robot reliability and robustness.
• Support mechanical engineering processes, track work in Jira and Confluence, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of mechanical design experience.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field.
• Experience with mechanism design, electronics packaging, sensors, motors, encoders, power transmission, gears, lead screws, linear guides, or harmonic drive actuators.
• Experience designing and building mechanisms and assemblies, preferably for robotics.
• Ability to work on-site at the Fremont design facility at least two days per week and as needed for design activities, reviews, and prototype testing.
• Current authorization to work in the United States is required.

Nice to have

• Robotics design experience.
• Advanced degree in engineering, science, or robotics.
• Experience with Creo, Windchill, Jira, Confluence, PLM, or PDM systems.
