Staff Engineer, Detection and Response (Security)

What you will do

• Own the detection and response strategy, multi-quarter initiatives, security metrics, and architecture.
• Build detection systems, security observability, response automations, investigation tools, and threat hunts using Panther, Python, Git, and CI/CD.
• Design detection coverage across log sources, enrichment, correlation, alert routing, threat intelligence, and signal quality.
• Lead high-severity incidents across cloud, SaaS, and corporate systems while improving playbooks, escalation, communications, and forensic readiness.
• Use AI and agents for triage, enrichment, investigation, and response with appropriate guardrails and human oversight.
• Mentor engineers, coordinate with Engineering, Infrastructure, IT, Legal, Fraud, and leadership, and establish detection-as-code standards.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in detection and response, detection engineering, security engineering, or incident response.
• Experience leading detection and response strategy or multi-quarter initiatives with measurable results.
• Hands-on experience designing detection architecture and shipping systems on a modern SIEM; Panther experience is highly valued.
• Strong Python, Git, CI/CD, and detection-as-code skills.
• Experience leading high-severity incidents in cloud and SaaS environments and improving incident response processes.
• Cloud and SaaS expertise, ideally GCP, with familiarity with Google Workspace, Okta, GitHub, Slack, Atlassian, Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, Kandji, and Snowflake.

Nice to have

• Staff, Lead, or Principal-level experience at a high-growth cloud or SaaS company.
• Production experience with AI-assisted triage, investigation, or response.
• Public security work or certifications such as GCIA, GCIH, or GCED.
