Detection Engineer, Information Security (Cybersecurity)

Location: Toronto, ON, Canada; hybrid arrangement with 1–3 days per week on-site

What you will do

• Design, build, and support threat detection content that alerts Security Operations to cyber threats.
• Develop correlated detections using the MITRE ATT&CK framework, cyber kill-chain knowledge, and threat-surface analysis.
• Analyze endpoint, network, cloud, application, proxy, and Active Directory environments.
• Collaborate with Threat Hunting, Cyber Risk Management, DLP, SOC, Vulnerability Management, Red Team, and Incident Response teams.
• Capture and enrich security context to improve detections, investigations, and operational outcomes.
• Work with Agile principles, two-week sprints, and Scrum development practices.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least five years of experience as an Information Security Consultant or in a similar role.
• Strong critical thinking, investigation, analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of threat detection, cyber operations, SIEM, security operations, and system security.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada and able to complete required security checks, including a criminal record check.

Nice to have

• CISSP, CRISC, or CISM certification.
