Electronics Engineer – Device Testing (Quantum Computing)

What you will do

• Design and build advanced test rigs for electrical and mechanical characterization of quantum microfabricated trap-chip devices.
• Develop detailed test plans and protocols to validate chip performance.
• Conduct experimental validation and characterization of electronics systems for quantum hardware.
• Collaborate with chip designers and electronics engineers to improve test coverage and compatibility with emerging quantum chip architectures.
• Evaluate testing methodologies and propose improvements to efficiency and accuracy.
• Document test procedures, results, and findings for reproducibility and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Strong electronics engineering capabilities for device and chip testing.
• Electromechanical engineering knowledge for creating precision test rigs.
• PCB layout and schematic design using ECAD tools such as Altium.
• Experience with VNA, spectrum analysers, TDRs, oscilloscopes, high-frequency electrical signals, and signal integrity.
• Knowledge of embedded systems and FPGA-based control for automated testing.
• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering or a related discipline, with strong technical writing and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with cryogenic temperatures and testing sensitive quantum devices.
• Mechanical CAD proficiency for fixture and test-rig design.
• Background in RF engineering, metrology, or instrumentation.
• Experience developing automated testing frameworks with Python or MATLAB.
• Understanding of EMC and high-speed digital design constraints in quantum systems.
