UX/UI Designer for Lab Software Products (Scientific Software)

Location: Germany-Waldbronn, near Karlsruhe; hybrid working model

What you will do

• Design user-centered experiences for desktop, web-based, and cloud-connected laboratory software.
• Translate customer and business requirements into user flows, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and detailed design specifications.
• Conduct and support user research, workflow analysis, usability evaluations, and customer feedback reviews.
• Design efficient workflows and consistent interfaces for complex scientific and laboratory tasks.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Product Owners, developers, scientists, customers, and UX specialists throughout the product lifecycle.
• Use design systems, UX standards, and AI-supported design, research, and prototyping tools where appropriate.

Requirements

• Degree in UX Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Information Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience designing software applications, digital products, or complex user interfaces.
• Strong skills in UX design, interaction design, visual design, prototyping, and user-centered design methods.
• Strong Figma skills and experience creating interactive prototypes, wireframes, mockups, and user flows.
• Experience with user research, usability testing, and cross-functional product development.
• Fluent English required; willingness to travel internationally occasionally.

Nice to have

• German language skills.
• Experience with enterprise software, SaaS products, scientific applications, or complex technical systems.
• Experience with responsive web applications, accessibility requirements, agile product development, or established product ecosystems.
• Experience in laboratory software, scientific workflows, life sciences, diagnostics, analytical instrumentation, or regulated environments.
