Staff Engineer, Hivemind Reasoning (AI)

What you will do

• Design, train, adapt, and evaluate reasoning and cognition models for unmanned autonomous platforms.
• Develop capabilities for contextual interpretation, temporal reasoning, multi-agent coordination, and adaptation to incomplete or changing information.
• Build reproducible workflows using self-supervised learning, supervised fine-tuning, imitation learning, reinforcement learning, and distillation.
• Define datasets, training objectives, benchmarks, and evaluation methods for comparing model approaches.
• Evaluate generalization, robustness, uncertainty, and performance in simulation and with real-world data.
• Partner with perception, MLOps, simulation, autonomy, hardware, and inference teams to deliver models for constrained edge platforms.

Requirements

• BS or MS in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Typically 7+ years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 6+ years with a master’s degree, or 4+ years with a PhD.
• Demonstrated experience developing and deploying advanced machine-learning models in production, including model design, training, and evaluation.
• Deep expertise in foundation models, modern deep learning, model architectures, and training ecosystems.
• Experience with PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow, multimodal or autonomous-system models, and traditional robotics algorithms.
• Familiarity with NVIDIA Jetson and other edge-compute platforms.

Nice to have

• MS or PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, or a similar field.
• Experience optimizing and deploying models on resource-constrained hardware.
• Experience with simulation-to-real transfer, unmanned autonomous systems in defense, distributed systems, or high-fidelity simulation.
