Function Architect – Automotive Software Development

What you will do

• Support vehicle software and functional changes from initial ideas through agreed system solutions.
• Collaborate with internal customers, system owners, and stakeholders to define requirements and appropriate system concepts.
• Facilitate discussions, assess change impacts, and identify affected vehicle systems, platforms, and interfaces.
• Define and document architectural principles, communication messages, dependencies, consequences, and agreed decisions.
• Translate complex technical topics into clear information and align cross-functional teams.
• Coach colleagues, share knowledge, and promote effective collaboration and engineering practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Solid experience in function development, system development, or system ownership in embedded systems or vehicle development.
• Good understanding of vehicle or platform complexity and interactions between systems.
• Experience assessing functional or software changes and their impact on related systems and components.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, facilitation, and consensus-building skills.
• Professional proficiency in English, written and spoken.

Nice to have

• Automotive industry experience.
• Knowledge of in-vehicle communication technologies and topologies such as CAN and Ethernet.
• Experience with embedded software development in continuous delivery or continuous change environments.
• Familiarity with architecture documentation, system modelling, or architecture toolchains.
• Experience coordinating changes across multiple engineering disciplines.
