Senior Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, with additional locations in Boulder, Colorado, USA. Flex work requires spending at least 50% of each quarter in the office or in the field.

Annual base salary: CAD $156,000–$234,000 in Vancouver; USD $163,000–$288,000 in additional US locations. Colorado range: USD $171,600–$257,400.

What you will do

• Lead technical decisions for the AI Model Serving platform, improving performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Design, implement, and maintain large-scale systems for moving machine learning models into production.
• Build infrastructure for hosting and tuning open-weight large language models and supporting hirify.global AI agents.
• Improve continuous integration pipelines, observability, autoscaling, and production troubleshooting.
• Write design documents, review pull requests, and maintain engineering documentation.
• Collaborate with software engineers, machine learning engineers, and data scientists while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software development experience focused on large-scale distributed systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes and GPU infrastructure, including GPU resource management, autoscaling hardware metrics, and GPU memory constraints.
• Experience with inference engines such as vLLM or SGLang and serving tuned models such as LoRA-based models.
• Deep proficiency in Python and production-grade software development, testing, deployment, and code review practices.
• Experience with LLMs, traditional machine learning models, observability, technical communication, and mentoring.
