Senior Database Administrator (AWS/PostgreSQL): Administering, securing, optimizing, and modernizing enterprise database platforms supporting critical applications and business processes with an accent on AWS-hosted environments, availability, performance, scalability, and data protection. Focus on leading cloud database migrations, resolving complex replication and disaster recovery issues, automating operations, and defining database governance and long-term platform roadmaps.

What you will do
- Administer, optimize, secure, and monitor enterprise databases across AWS-hosted and enterprise environments.
- Manage Amazon RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and related database technologies.
- Troubleshoot incidents involving performance, replication, connectivity, availability, backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and reliability.
- Lead database modernization and migration initiatives toward cloud-native and managed database services.
- Define database strategy, governance, standards, documentation, service expectations, and multi-year platform roadmaps.
- Partner with application, cloud, infrastructure, vendor, and business teams while mentoring junior database administrators.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience administering enterprise database platforms in production.
- Hands-on experience with AWS database services, including Amazon RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Advanced expertise in SQL, database architecture, query execution plans, indexing, partitioning, clustering, performance tuning, replication, backup and recovery, high availability, disaster recovery, data modeling, and normalization.
- Experience with database monitoring, incident response, change management, problem management, scripting, and automation.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Nice to have
- Experience with Oracle, MongoDB, and other database technologies.
- Experience with AWS infrastructure, cloud-native services, Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of database security, compliance, and governance best practices.
- Experience in scientific, research, manufacturing, commercial, or other data-intensive environments.
- AWS or database-related professional certifications.
