Senior Platform Engineer (AI)

Location: Cologne, Germany; remote work possible. The role allows working from anywhere in the EU for up to 20 days per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, and evolve an agentic AI platform, evaluating managed cloud services, open-source technologies, and build-versus-buy approaches.
• Design and operate secure, reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient infrastructure across Azure compute, networking, storage, identity, security, and governance.
• Develop reusable, tested Infrastructure as Code modules with Terraform and automated delivery.
• Build Python automation, integrations, and internal platform tooling to improve reliability and developer self-service.
• Contribute to Kubernetes workload deployment and operation.
• Automate and operate Data and AI workloads on Azure Databricks.

Requirements

• Practical experience with agentic-system architecture, including model and tool integration, MCP, context management, identity, security, observability, evaluation, and governance.
• Strong hands-on experience designing, building, and operating Microsoft Azure infrastructure and solid fundamentals in containers, networking, storage, security, and governance.
• Strong Infrastructure as Code experience, particularly with Terraform and reusable, maintainable, well-tested modules.
• Strong Python scripting or development experience for infrastructure automation, integrations, and internal tooling.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Azure Databricks or comparable Data and AI platforms is beneficial.
