TL;DR
Senior Consultant - Evidence Synthesis Expert (US Team Support) (Evidence Synthesis/HEOR): Leading complex evidence synthesis projects and developing statistical analyses, scripts, and client deliverables with an accent on Bayesian methods, indirect treatment comparisons, population adjustment, and survival analysis. Focus on building R and WinBUGS/OpenBUGS/JAGS solutions, solving challenging cross-trial evidence problems, and coaching junior statisticians.

Location: São Paulo, Brazil. Other location: Porto Salvo, Portugal.

What you will do

  • Lead multiple evidence synthesis projects, including feasibility assessments, meta-analyses, indirect treatment comparisons, and network meta-analyses.
  • Provide senior statistical and technical leadership, solve complex research problems, and oversee project delivery.
  • Edit, review, and develop statistical scripts and tools using R, WinBUGS, OpenBUGS, and JAGS.
  • Guide the development and quality control of protocols, statistical analysis plans, reports, and manuscripts.
  • Support business development, client engagement, research dissemination, and product development.
  • Coach and train junior statisticians and project delivery teams, with possible line-management responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in medical statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, epidemiology, public health, health economics, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant statistician experience in consultancy, CRO, pharmaceutical or biotech companies, or academia.
  • Fluency in English is required; the resume must be submitted in English.
  • Strong experience with Bayesian statistics, generalized linear models, evidence synthesis, population adjustment, surrogate endpoint evaluation, structured expert elicitation, and survival analyses.
  • Strong programming skills in R and good command of Stan or WinBUGS, OpenBUGS, or JAGS, with applied experience in business or academia.
  • Experience with clinical evidence comparison, risk-of-bias assessment, scientific writing, project management, client communication, and HEOR domains.

Nice to have

  • PhD related to health services research or statistics.
  • Knowledge of Stan and other statistical software or decision-support packages.
  • Experience developing publications, presenting at scientific conferences, or maintaining a publication track record.
