Implementation Delivery Engineer (Data Engineering)

Location: Australia, with occasional onsite travel to the Canberra hub

What you will do

• Develop, deploy, and continuously improve distributed big-data pipelines supporting network analysis, machine learning, data ingestion, and data fusion.
• Integrate customer data and customise data pipelines for complex customer scenarios.
• Improve platform scalability while supporting reliability, cost controls, releases, and security accreditations.
• Serve as the technical expert in customer-facing meetings, translating government requirements into platform architecture and implementation plans.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, product managers, and external stakeholders.
• Evaluate tools and best practices for data pipeline development, orchestration, and deployment.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering or a closely related field.
• Experience working with or within the public sector.
• Extensive experience designing, developing, and maintaining complex data models from varied sources and schemas.
• Experience leading the full lifecycle of large-scale data ingestion and standardisation pipelines: design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Strong experience with cloud architecture, engineering, or administration, along with data security and governance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including direct work with customers and stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience managing data platforms, releases, costs, infrastructure changes, and monitoring.
• Experience mentoring engineers on complex data engineering projects.
• Knowledge of trade compliance, supply chain management, entity resolution, or graph databases.
• Experience deploying machine learning pipelines.
• Knowledge of IRAP, Essential Eight, or other information security frameworks.
• Familiarity with AI tools for improving engineering quality and productivity.
