Automation Engineer

Location: United States, North Carolina, Rocky Mount; on premise

Annual base salary: $68,600–$114,300, plus eligibility for a 7.5% performance bonus.

What you will do

• Support production-critical automation and digital systems to maintain reliability and production continuity.
• Troubleshoot system issues, support investigations and deviations, and gather root-cause data.
• Operate and support DCS, PLC, SCADA, HMI, and PC-based production systems.
• Implement, test, commission, and document approved automation system and software changes.
• Maintain validated system states, lifecycle documentation, GMP compliance, and audit readiness.
• Provide continuous 24x7x365 support and contribute to preventive maintenance, recovery testing, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 0+ years of experience, associate's degree with 4 years of experience, or high school diploma/equivalent with 6 years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience with engineering design, validation, automated systems, and equipment.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to provide 24x7x365 support for automation systems.
• Permanent U.S. work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting automation control systems in pharmaceutical engineering.
• Knowledge of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems and preventive maintenance procedures.
• Experience with manufacturing information systems and developing preventative solutions.
• Experience using generative AI tools such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot responsibly for problem solving and productivity.
