Staff Industrial Designer (Medtech)

Location: US Remote; remote contract engagement with periodic travel as needed.

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 per year for US-based candidates. Candidates outside the US may receive a location-specific range.

What you will do

• Lead industrial design direction for major physical consumer and health product initiatives.
• Apply expert craft across sketching, CAD surfacing, CMF, rendering, and physical prototyping.
• Build scalable design systems, frameworks, and standards across the product portfolio.
• Partner with engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and operations from concept through production handoff.
• Balance brand quality, manufacturability, cost, materials, tolerances, and vendor capabilities.
• Mentor peers and improve collaboration and craft standards across the design team.

Requirements

• 8+ years of industrial design experience, including shipped physical consumer or health/medical hardware.
• Portfolio demonstrating expert craft from concept sketches through manufactured products.
• Deep fluency in sketching, Rhino, SolidWorks or Fusion 360, KeyShot, and hands-on prototyping.
• Knowledge of injection molding, overmolding, extrusion, sheet metal, soft goods, and DFM principles.
• Experience working with engineering and operations teams to bring products into production.
• Ability to work independently in an ambiguous remote contractor environment and contribute to health product compliance and safety requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience developing CMF standards, design systems, or frameworks across multiple projects.
• Experience mentoring peers without formal management responsibility.
