Associate Scientist (Microbiome Research)

What you will do

• Lead in vivo research across germ-free, gnotobiotic, isolator, IVC, and conventional animal colonies.
• Coordinate infectious challenges, oral gavages, colonized consortia studies, and tissue harvesting.
• Design, perform, optimize, and troubleshoot experiments in molecular biology, anaerobic bacteriology, culturomics, and microbial genetics.
• Coordinate laboratory operations, purchasing, vendor relationships, equipment maintenance, calibrations, SOPs, biosafety protocols, and IACUC amendments.
• Analyze experimental data and contribute to manuscripts, figures, grant applications, and progress reports.
• Train and support junior laboratory members, graduate students, and research technologists.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• At least 7 years of research experience with a bachelor’s degree, 5 years with a master’s degree, or 2 years with a PhD.
• High scientific independence and experience executing complex research workflows.
• Experience leading or supporting research experiments and coordinating laboratory or scientific projects.
• Proven performance in an earlier comparable role.

Nice to have

• Experience with anaerobic bacteriology, culturomics, mucosal immunology assays, or computational microbiome analysis using R or Python.
• Experience guiding and training laboratory personnel.
