Content Writer (African American Genealogy)

Location: Remote contractor role for candidates in eligible US locations

Compensation: $25–$155 per published piece

What you will do

• Write collection descriptions, personalized historical stories, and blog posts for hirify.global's contextual content programs.
• Conduct in-depth historical and genealogical research to support each assignment.
• Collaborate with the Editor and Program Manager to revise and complete writing assignments.
• Ensure content follows style guidelines, department goals, quality standards, and the required tone.
• Verify facts through thorough research and provide status updates as requested.
• Complete assignments by submission deadlines.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with African American genealogy research and writing is required.
• Experience writing about historical events and sensitive topics.
• Background in African American studies or a related historical, cultural, or area-studies field.
• Excellent writing, editing, research, and communication skills.
• Ability to interpret and follow style guides, tone standards, and content guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, initiative, and family history knowledge.
