What you will do

• Collaborate with the Editor and Program Manager to develop and revise writing assignments.
• Conduct in-depth historical and genealogical research.
• Write record descriptions, personalized historical stories, and blog posts.
• Apply style guidelines, maintain consistent quality and tone, and address audience needs.
• Fact-check content and ensure information is supported by thorough research.
• Manage deadlines and provide status updates to editorial stakeholders.

Requirements

• Required: experience with Continental European genealogy research and writing.
• Expertise in Continental European history and genealogy.
• Experience writing about historical events and sensitive topics.
• Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interpret and follow style guides, standards, and tone requirements.
• Strong internet research skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and a self-directed working style.

Nice to have

• Degree in history, English, journalism, or a related field, or equivalent professional writing experience.
• Academic or professional background in European, British, French, African American, Latin American, Native American, Asian American, American, or Australian studies.
• Background in family history.
