Content Writer (Australia Research Expert)

Location: Remote contractor, subject to hirify.global's eligible US location restrictions.

Compensation: $25–$155 per published piece.

What you will do

• Collaborate with the Editor and Program Manager to develop and revise writing assignments.
• Conduct in-depth historical and genealogy research to support content.
• Write record descriptions, personalized historical stories, and blog posts.
• Apply style guidelines, tone standards, department goals, and audience-awareness principles.
• Verify facts through thorough research and complete assignments by submission deadlines.
• Provide status updates and reports to the Editor and Program Manager.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience with Australian genealogy research and writing is required.
• Specialized knowledge of Australian history, genealogy, historical records, and record availability.
• Understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and records, with the ability to create culturally sensitive content.
• Experience writing about historical events and sensitive topics.
• Excellent writing, editing, research, communication, accuracy, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to follow style guides, interpret standards, work independently, and meet deadlines.

Nice to have

• Degree in history, English, journalism, or a related field, or equivalent professional writing experience.
• Academic or professional background in Australian studies, family history, or another relevant area of historical or cultural studies.
