Distributed Storage Engineer

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain the distributed object storage system supporting container images, volumes, and checkpoints.
• Develop caching, preloading, and peer-to-peer data-sharing layers across workers and datacenters.
• Replicate data across multiple cloud object storage providers and a CDN.
• Own durability, cost efficiency, and high-throughput read/write paths at hundreds-of-petabytes scale.
• Automate garbage collection, data migration, and storage operations across billions of objects.
• Deploy colocated storage clusters to accelerate customer workloads and participate in the on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience writing high-quality production code.
• Experience building high-performance distributed storage or caching systems at large scale.
• Strong cloud skills, including deep knowledge of S3 or similar object storage, CDNs, consistency, throughput, and cost characteristics.
• Strong knowledge of Linux kernel foundations, file systems, page cache, and containers.
• Experience with replication, content addressing, consistency models, multi-region or multi-cloud systems, and petabyte-scale data engineering.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and respond to production incidents.

• Prior experience with Rust.
