Senior Officer, Protective Operations

Location: Seattle, WA, United States; this is a Seattle-based role. Relocation support is provided.

Salary: $173,100–$259,700 USD annually in Seattle and Washington, D.C.; the general range is $157,400–$236,000 USD.

What you will do

• Manage journeys and provide domestic and international executive protection for employees, senior leaders, and VIPs traveling to high-risk areas.
• Provide medical and security support for events and augment the Seattle campus emergency response team.
• Assess global threats, monitor changes in the risk environment, and develop mitigation strategies for foundation activities.
• Design and deliver training covering emergency response, defensive tactics, advanced driving, emergency medical support, and high-risk travel.
• Collaborate with program teams and security partners to identify foreseeable risks and implement protective measures.
• Deploy internationally on short notice, including outside standard hours and to environments with extreme conditions, limited infrastructure, and reduced medical access.

Requirements

• Unrestricted work authorization in the United States is required; immigration-related sponsorship is not provided.
• Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of documented experience in government, military, private-sector, or NGO security.
• EMT-B certification is required; experience providing close protection to VIPs and executive-level staff is required.
• Significant experience in high-risk environments, protective operations, threat assessment, emergency response, and independent decision-making.
• Advanced firearms proficiency, including tactical or defensive shooting, is required.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 65 pounds, remain standing or walking for extended periods, travel across multiple time zones, and work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Nice to have

• EMT-P, ACLS, or BLS instructor certification.
• Law enforcement, military, or executive protection firearms training.
• Advanced or defensive driving certification.
• Experience managing security vendor relationships.
