Expert Detection and Response Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote within California, United States; occasional travel of up to approximately 10% may be required for studio support or on-site incident response.

Base pay: $124,000–$229,400 annually in the United States, plus potential incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Detect, investigate, and respond to security incidents across cloud, corporate, and production environments.
• Analyze telemetry, audit logs, alerts, endpoints, identities, cloud environments, and malware throughout the incident lifecycle.
• Build and refine SIEM and EDR detection content based on attacker behavior and investigation findings.
• Develop automation, SOAR workflows, scripting, and advanced analytics to improve investigation and response efficiency.
• Design and operate AI/LLM-assisted triage and enrichment workflows, including case-management integrations and constrained output schemas.
• Maintain TDIR procedures, playbooks, runbooks, metrics, and investigation communications while participating in on-call support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, or equivalent practical experience, plus 10+ years of progressively accountable security experience.
• Hands-on expertise in threat detection, security operations, incident response, alert triage, log analysis, and full-lifecycle investigations.
• Experience with SIEM and EDR platforms, including building or significantly extending detection content.
• Scripting or programming experience with Python, PowerShell, or KQL.
• Strong host- and network-based forensics skills, including timeline reconstruction and root cause analysis.
• Fluency in English and willingness to participate in an on-call rotation with off-hours support are required.

Nice to have

• 12+ years of IT and security experience, including leadership or mentorship of less-senior analysts.
• Malware analysis, SOAR, security automation, and AI-assisted SOC triage experience.
• Experience with Active Directory, hybrid identity, privileged account monitoring, and security hardening.
• Knowledge of AI security risks such as prompt injection, verdict poisoning, hallucinated verdicts, and over-trust in model output.
• Engagement with the cybersecurity community or evidence of self-directed professional learning.
