TL;DR
Malware Researcher (Cybersecurity): Building and deploying machine learning models for malware and threat detection with an accent on dataset versioning, model evaluation, and inference optimization. Focus on analyzing model errors, controlling false-positive rates and latency, and monitoring production models for drift on AWS.

Location: On-site in Timișoara, Timiș, Romania

Company

hirify.global develops cybersecurity technology for protecting IT, OT, and ICS critical infrastructure, networks, devices, and compliance requirements.

What you will do

  • Translate malware detection problems into well-defined machine learning problems with hypotheses, baselines, and success criteria.
  • Build, label, version, and maintain datasets for model training and evaluation.
  • Design, train, tune, and analyze machine learning models, feeding error findings back into data, features, and architecture.
  • Define evaluation protocols, metrics, data splits, held-out test sets, and thresholds based on false-positive rate and latency constraints.
  • Deploy models to production on AWS with MLOps and software engineering teams, including packaging and inference optimization.
  • Monitor deployed models for drift, drive retraining, document reproducible experiments, and present results and trade-offs.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, Data Scientist, or Applied Scientist, including models delivered to production.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Strong Python and scientific-stack skills, including NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, and PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Solid understanding of statistics and machine learning fundamentals, including bias and variance, class imbalance, leakage, and calibration.
  • Practical AWS experience for data storage and training workloads.
  • Clear written and spoken English required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with experiment tracking and model registries such as MLflow or Weights & Biases.
  • Experience optimizing and packaging models for inference, including quantization, distillation, ONNX, or Docker.
  • Knowledge of file formats, binary analysis, cybersecurity, threat detection, or other adversarial domains.
  • Publications, open-source contributions, or a competitive machine learning track record.

Culture & Benefits

  • Equal opportunity employment with a commitment to diversity and a workplace free from discrimination and harassment.
