Aircraft Design Engineer (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Develop RPAS airframes using aircraft design principles and systems-level analysis.
• Perform aerodynamic and aircraft performance analysis using hand calculations and tools such as OpenVSP, XFOIL, and XFLR5.
• Create 3D models, technical drawings, and fabrication-ready designs in SolidWorks.
• Support rapid prototyping, fabrication, assembly, and integration of lightweight aerospace structures and mechanical systems.
• Collaborate with avionics, electrical engineering, and flight operations teams during prototype builds, testing, and validation.
• Maintain engineering documentation and support improvements in manufacturability, reliability, and system performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 3–5 years of professional aircraft design experience.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar parametric CAD software.
• Experience with FEA and CFD tools such as SolidWorks Simulation or Ansys Fluent.
• Understanding of aircraft conceptual design and sizing, aerodynamics, structural design, propulsion sizing, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping, fabrication, or mechanical assembly, plus the ability to interpret technical drawings and tolerances.

Nice to have

• 1–3 years of UAV design experience.
• Experience with OpenVSP, XFOIL, or XFLR5.
• Familiarity with carbon fiber or fiberglass composite layups.
• Understanding of DFM principles and iterative product development.
• Personal engineering, robotics, or aerospace projects.
