Design System Engineer (AI)

Location: Madrid, Spain; office-first with 20% remote flexibility. Offices are also located in Barcelona.

Salary: €60,500–€86,250 gross annual.

What you will do

• Lead and scale the company-wide design system, including architecture, tooling, documentation, governance, and implementation planning.
• Build AI Skills, plugins, and tooling connecting Figma, code, and AI-driven development workflows.
• Develop and maintain evaluation frameworks to support pixel-perfect, accessible, responsive, and usable product experiences.
• Collaborate with design, frontend, product, and customers to understand workflows, constraints, and real problems.
• Mentor peers, document learnings, and contribute to AI engineering best practices.

Requirements

• Experience building real AI-powered systems or workflows and shipping projects with measurable impact.
• Product-first thinking and the ability to design complete experiences rather than isolated components.
• Strong experience with React, TypeScript, and the modern frontend ecosystem.
• Strong understanding of Figma, design tokens, and component libraries.
• Experience translating early concepts into production-grade design systems.
• Ability to work in the Madrid or Barcelona office-first setup with 20% remote flexibility.

Nice to have

• Experience with LLMs, skill-based agents, MCP, or other AI protocols.
• Experience building internal tooling, plugins, or Figma-to-code pipelines.
• Experience using AI to automate or accelerate design-to-development workflows.
