Geotechnical Engineer (Underground Mining)

Location: Residential onsite role at Macraes, Otago, New Zealand; 8/6 roster, days only. A valid New Zealand working visa is required.

What you will do

• Inspect underground headings, stopes, blast performance, ground support, hazards, structural features, and priority monitoring areas.
• Collect, maintain, and analyse geotechnical records, geological mapping, monitoring data, and underground inspection information.
• Identify hazardous ground conditions, communicate risks to operations, and develop appropriate mitigation plans.
• Conduct ground support QAQC and review operational plans and Mining Instructions against the Ground Control Management Plan.
• Install, service, calibrate, and maintain convergence points, Cyclops, MPBX, smart cables, and LiDAR scanners.
• Carry out structural mapping, diamond drill core logging, and other required geotechnical data collection.

Requirements

• Recognised degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, or an equivalent tertiary qualification.
• At least one year of experience in underground mining.
• Full and current driver licence, including the ability to drive manual vehicles.
• Must hold a valid New Zealand working visa.
• Ability to work onsite in Macraes, Otago, on an 8/6 days-only roster.
