Applied Mathematician – Consultant

What you will do

• Develop mathematical models that explain underlying physical processes and guide product and technology development.
• Model multiphase flows, simulate optoelectronic and photonic technologies, and assess novel processes and prototype scale-up.
• Build analytical models and numerical simulations using MATLAB, Python, COMSOL, and computational fluid dynamics methods.
• Move projects from simplified analytical calculations to detailed 3D multiphysics simulations.
• Work across multiple scientific and engineering domains while managing several projects in parallel.
• Explain analysis, implications, and uncertainties clearly to multidisciplinary colleagues and clients.

Requirements

• PhD in applied mathematics, physics, or a related discipline.
• Excellent mathematical reasoning and the ability to create models from first principles.
• Experience developing computational models and simulations of physical systems.
• Experience with MATLAB and/or COMSOL, plus Python or another relevant programming language.
• Ability to understand unfamiliar technical problems, identify key physical processes, and adapt analytical approaches.
• Pragmatic problem-solving, strong communication, and collaboration skills.
