TL;DR
Data Engineer (Fintech) (Java/Python, AWS): Designing and scaling production data pipelines and core data infrastructure for large-scale financial and time-series data with an accent on reliability, data quality, and performance. Focus on modeling relational and NoSQL data, optimizing database and workflow processing, and supporting analytics and machine learning use cases.
Location: Remote from Italy, with the role associated with Milan

What you will do
- Design, build, maintain, schedule, and monitor production-grade data pipelines and data-intensive systems.
- Deploy and manage scalable, secure, and cost-efficient data infrastructure on AWS or on-premises.
- Optimize MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and other relational and NoSQL databases for querying, indexing, and large-scale data access.
- Build reliable ingestion, transformation, validation, and monitoring workflows for large-scale and time-series financial data.
- Define data models and storage structures, troubleshoot complex production issues, and drive root-cause analysis.
- Collaborate with Data Scientists and Analysts while contributing to technical decisions and the data infrastructure roadmap.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in Java, Python, or another JVM-based language.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, SQL, NoSQL databases, data quality, validation, and monitoring.
- Experience building and maintaining production data pipelines or data-intensive systems with a focus on reliability and performance.
- Experience working with large-scale and time-series datasets in financial contexts, including financial data structures and quality challenges.
- Professional proficiency in English and availability to work remotely from Italy.
Nice to have
- Experience with monitoring and visualization tools, including dashboards.
- Exposure to machine learning workflows and related data requirements.
