Packaging Engineer (AI)

Location: Onsite in Wuxi, Jiangsu, China. Some travel is required, up to 25% of working time.

What you will do

• Develop, review, approve, and maintain part-level inbound supplier packaging specifications.
• Design and validate expendable and returnable packaging for finished products, assemblies, and service parts.
• Resolve packaging-related safety, quality, material flow, and cost issues through root-cause analysis and corrective action.
• Perform containerization, loading, transportation, and total-cost analyses, coordinating prototypes, testing, pilot shipments, and releases.
• Design packaging interfaces for AGV/AMR, ASRS, conveyors, scanning, vision systems, and robotic handling.
• Lead packaging improvement projects and coordinate actions with facility teams, suppliers, vendors, and regional or global partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant packaging, manufacturing logistics, material-handling, or supply-chain engineering experience.
• Experience developing or approving industrial packaging and validating solutions in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of expendable and returnable packaging, unit loads, transportation, and line-side requirements.
• Ability to interpret drawings and CAD data and translate operational needs into packaging specifications.
• Professional English and Chinese capability are required for technical and local supplier communication.

Nice to have

• Onsite packaging experience in engine, heavy equipment, automotive, or complex industrial manufacturing.
• Experience with supplier packaging audits, change control, outbound or export packaging, and packaging testing.
• Lean or Six Sigma project experience and exposure to dashboards, workflow automation, or AI-enabled engineering.
