Lead Python Developer

Location: Cyprus; office-based work, 5/2 schedule, with a flexible start time between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM.

What you will do

• Design the architecture and develop backend services for data storage and processing infrastructure.
• Own technical quality through code reviews, development standards, testing, and documentation.
• Build and develop a Python engineering team by participating in hiring, mentoring developers, and allocating and decomposing tasks.
• Integrate internal and external systems, design REST and gRPC APIs, and develop tools for data-flow management and infrastructure automation.
• Collaborate with DevOps on CI/CD, deployment, and observability, including metrics, logs, and alerting.
• Participate in technical planning, estimation, risk assessment, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial Python development experience, including 1–2+ years as a Team Lead, Tech Lead, or Lead Developer.
• Experience designing and developing high-load distributed services.
• Deep knowledge of SQL and experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, including database internals and optimization.
• Strong experience with UNIX systems and command-line tools.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including building images, writing manifests and Helm charts, and deploying services.
• Experience establishing unit and integration testing practices and a code review culture.
• Understanding of observability principles and tools such as Prometheus and Grafana, or similar solutions, covering metrics, logs, and tracing.
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience with message queues and data streaming, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Experience with secrets management tools such as Vault, Sealed Secrets, or External Secrets.
• Experience developing in Java or Go.
