Event-Driven Research Lead (Crypto)

Location: Hong Kong; remote workplace

What you will do

• Own crypto-native event-driven situations from initial research through ongoing monitoring.
• Interpret regulatory developments, protocol governance, token unlocks, and special situations as information evolves.
• Separate signal from noise, communicate changing implications, and maintain probability-based views.
• Identify actionable and asymmetric trading opportunities grounded in detailed situational analysis.
• Work with engineering to shape research tools and workflows supporting event-driven trading.
• Collaborate with on-chain and real-time intelligence teams using proprietary data and tooling to pressure-test ideas.

Requirements

• 5+ years of information- and flows-driven research or trading experience in a tier-1 buy-side or proprietary trading environment.
• Experience operating in event-driven settings involving incomplete information, incentives, and evolving situations.
• Ability to build conviction across diverse topics while maintaining both detailed and holistic views.
• Ability to adapt coherent views as facts and narratives change.
• Comfort with rigorous debate and constructive collaboration across research, trading, and engineering.
• Genuine intellectual curiosity about crypto and the ability to ramp up quickly; deep crypto experience is not required.

Nice to have

• Background in macro, emerging markets, FX, commodities, event-driven, or special-situations research.
• Prior crypto or digital-asset market experience.
• Strong writing skills for framing situations and communicating conviction clearly.
