Software Engineering Intern (Summer 2027)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; on-site internship.

Expected salary: $20.00–$40.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Develop well-scoped software features, prototypes, tests, automation, and tooling improvements under engineer guidance.
• Contribute to an application for software performance tuning on MIPS RISC-V microprocessors.
• Work with front-end workflows, back-end simulation concepts, performance analysis, and data visualization.
• Support debugging, testing, documentation, and product-quality improvements.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, team meetings, technical demonstrations, and project presentations.

Requirements

• Be at least a sophomore and actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, or a related field.
• Maintain an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and good academic standing.
• English fluency required for written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.
• Strong programming fundamentals developed through coursework, labs, personal projects, open-source contributions, internships, or research.

Nice to have

• Prior internship or co-op experience.
• Leadership experience in work, school projects, competitions, or similar settings.
• Interest in AI tools, developer tools, application frameworks, computer architecture, RISC-V, simulation, performance tuning, compilers, operating systems, or low-level software systems.
• Project management, communication, planning, and organizational skills.
