Security Engineer, Detection and Response

Location: San Jose, CA, United States; 5 days per week in-office

Salary: $150,000–$300,000 annually

What you will do

• Design, pilot, and implement centralized logging and alerting across endpoints, networks, labs, and cloud environments.
• Develop tools and automation to improve threat hunting and incident response.
• Investigate alerts, triage potential incidents, and lead response efforts during active incidents.
• Research adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures across advanced persistent threats and cybercrime.
• Build threat intelligence on relevant trends and sophisticated threat actors.

Requirements

• Experience in several areas including digital forensics, malware analysis, incident management, host or network intrusion detection, and threat intelligence.
• Practical knowledge of threat hunting and automated threat detection and incident response.
• Strong software engineering skills in C/C++, Rust, Golang, Python, or similar languages.
• Knowledge of Linux, Windows, and macOS internals, plus detection in Azure, GCP, or AWS environments.
• Experience working with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or equivalent experience, plus 6+ years in security monitoring or a related security role.
