Database Engineer (DBA)

Location: Cyprus; hybrid working model.

What you will do

• Support and maintain Microsoft SQL Server production environments, including health, performance, availability, and capacity monitoring.
• Troubleshoot production incidents, optimize queries, and improve database performance.
• Manage backups, recovery processes, security, permissions, and access controls.
• Support database deployments, releases, schema changes, migrations, and migration-script reviews.
• Collaborate with Development, Architecture, and DevOps teams on database design, CI/CD, monitoring, observability, and automation.
• Support high availability and disaster recovery processes and maintain operational documentation and runbooks.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in database administration, database engineering, or a similar role.
• Hands-on production experience with Microsoft SQL Server and strong T-SQL skills.
• Experience with performance tuning, database troubleshooting, backups, recovery, and database security.
• Understanding of high availability and disaster recovery concepts.
• Experience supporting database deployments and schema changes.
• Familiarity with source control, pull requests, CI/CD, analytical problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, AWS, or another cloud platform.
• Exposure to Grafana or similar monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with Terraform, infrastructure-as-code, database automation, DataOps, or DevOps environments.
• Experience collaborating with Development and Architecture teams on database performance and design.
