Location: Remote in Japan; legal authorization to work in Japan required without employer sponsorship

What you will do
- Monitor, investigate, and respond to alerts across the EDR/XDR security stack.
- Lead complex and high-severity investigations, including containment, remediation, and recovery during major incidents.
- Perform threat hunting across customer environments using threat intelligence, adversary behavior, and approved playbooks.
- Investigate phishing, suspicious binaries, behavioral anomalies, vulnerabilities, and emerging indicators of compromise.
- Improve detection coverage by refining detection logic, reducing false positives, and identifying telemetry gaps.
- Mentor analysts, review casework, document findings, manage customer workflows, and contribute to security operations processes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a SOC, MDR environment, or cybersecurity-focused IT role.
- Hands-on experience with incident response, endpoint and network security tools, alert triage, and threat hunting.
- Strong knowledge of Windows, Windows event logs, network traffic analysis, TCP/IP, routing, switching, and security telemetry; experience with Linux or macOS.
- Experience mentoring or reviewing other analysts and explaining findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Business-level Japanese (JLPT N2 or above or native) and business-level English, written and spoken, are required.
- Willingness to work night, weekend, and holiday shifts for a 24/7/365 MDR service; applicants must have legal authorization to work in Japan without employer sponsorship.
Nice to have
- MITRE ATT&CK, SIEM, SQL, OSQuery, PowerShell, or advanced cybersecurity certification experience.
