Data Engineer II (Data Migration)

Location: Must be physically located in and work from Mexico City (CDMX) or Mexico State (Estado de Mexico). The role follows a hybrid work model, with in-person collaboration at a hirify.global office and remote work for part of the week.

What you will do

• Partner with enterprise customers, Project Managers, and Technical Architects to understand migration requirements and design scalable solutions.
• Develop and enhance reusable migration tooling, automation frameworks, and developer utilities.
• Design, build, and optimize ETL processes for data extraction, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and loading.
• Build containerized migration solutions and troubleshoot issues involving APIs, databases, integrations, and application data.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity while maintaining code quality, security, testing, and engineering standards.
• Document best practices, improve migration delivery, and contribute to customer implementation quality.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years of Python development.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases, REST APIs, JSON, XML, and CSV.
• Experience troubleshooting complex data transformation and integration challenges.
• Experience with Git, collaborative software development workflows, and AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, or Claude Code.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple customer projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.

Nice to have

• Experience in Professional Services, Consulting, or customer-facing engineering.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and cloud-native applications.
• Experience building automation frameworks, developer tooling, or SaaS integrations through REST APIs.
• Familiarity with large language models and AI-assisted engineering workflows.
• Understanding of software architecture, clean code principles, and design patterns.
