2027 Applied Scientist - PhD Intern (AI)

Location: San Mateo, California, United States. Office-based roles are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.

Salary: $72 USD per hour.

What you will do

• Prototype, experiment with, and deploy advanced AI, machine learning, and 3D technologies.
• Translate research into production-ready features with engineering and product teams.
• Develop, deliver, and optimize solutions that improve user experience, safety, and creativity.
• Own a high-impact project from ideation and experimentation through production and publication.

Requirements

• Possess or pursue a PhD in computer science, engineering, or a related field, with a thesis aligned with relevant research areas.
• Deep expertise in deep learning, computer vision, NLP, reinforcement learning, distributed systems, or a related technical domain.
• Programming experience in one or more of Python, C++, Go, or Java, including work on large-scale systems.
• A strong research record with multiple publications and presentations at respected peer-reviewed venues.
• For US-based roles, candidates must have appropriate United States work authorization; future H-1B sponsorship may not be supported.
