Data Scientist (Machine Learning) - PhD Intern

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional office presence on Monday and Friday

What you will do

• Research and develop data analytics, causal inference, experiment design, and machine learning solutions.
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers on product and business innovation.
• Conduct in-depth research on complex data-related challenges.
• Apply analytical work to in-experience experiments, friend recommendations, and dynamic resource allocation for experience servers.
• Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Possessing or pursuing a PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Computational Social Science, or another quantitative field.
• At least one year of research or internship experience in causal inference, machine learning, or experiment design.
• Programming proficiency in one or more of SQL, Python, or R.
• Experience with big data query or processing tools such as SQL, Hive, Spark, or Airflow.
• Experience with machine learning modeling.
• For U.S.-based roles, certain U.S. visa categories may not be supported, and future H-1B sponsorship may not be available.

• Experience developing production solutions.
